Government:
Presbyterians organize themselves through four representative governing bodies (click the links to visit our church’s respective governing bodies):
| • |
The local church is governed by the Session (the combination of ordained elders and minister(s) of word and sacrament); |
| • |
The presbytery, which for us is one of the 11 regions primarily within Michigan and Ohio (which includes elder representatives from each church and all the ministers of word and sacrament, active or retired); |
| • |
The synod, which includes equal representation of elders and clergy selected by the presbyteries; and |
| • |
The General Assembly, which is our national governing body, including equal representation of elders and clergy selected by the presbyteries. |
In our case, our presbytery is Maumee Valley Presbytery, and our synod is the Synod of the Covenant.
